A female accused with stalking Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a phone message which questioned: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the tribunal heard communication data and information recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most publicized investigations and continues to be open.

'I Don't Want Money'

A separate voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I believe."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "What if there is a small chance that I am she? Then what? Is that not crucial for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I possess a life here in Poland, I only wish to know," the message continued.

The tribunal was told that via emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with the police force who compiled the information, told the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a recording on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I will continue and I plan to establish my position."

The court learned Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship online with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in the county in December 2024.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had contacted via communication app to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the period preceding the visit to that location, that area, in December 2024.

The court heard message exchanges between the two accused, in November 2024, considering trying to get Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her trash or from utensils at a eating establishment.

"We need to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the trip to their residence, Mrs Spragg transmitted a message which expressed: "We find ourselves sat near the McCanns' house with our lights out resembling investigators. I desired to achieve this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."
