Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
