Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Top Player Honors.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Year of Dominance
Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she became the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Achievements
Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and picked up a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She received almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".
Additional WTA Award Honorees
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five championship matches.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
